Everyday Normal Guy

The Shop's Joke of the day

Two men are approaching each other on a sidewalk. Both are dragging their right foot as they walk.
As they meet, one man looks at the other knowingly, points to his foot and says, Vietnam, 1969."
The other points his thumb behind him and says, "Dog crap, 20 feet back."

Talking Italian

A bus stops and two Italian men get on. They seat themselves, and engage in animated

conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores their conversation at first, but her attention

is galvanized when she hears one of the men say the following: ''Emma come first. I come. Dennis

come and Dennis come again. I come again. Two asses, they come together again. I come again

and pee twice. Then I come once-a-more.'' ''You foul-mouthed swine,'' retorted the lady

indignantly. ''In this country we don't talk about our sex lives in public.'' ''Hey, coola down lady,''

said the man. ''Imma just tella my friend howa to spella Mississippi.''

Ritter's family says he didn't have to die

"The doctors told it to me like I was 5 and I told it to her like she was 5," Yasbeck said in an interview with The Times. "The truth is, it's a lot more complicated and it's a lot more sad."

Early next month, in response to a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by Yasbeck and Ritter's four children, a Los Angeles County jury will be asked to decide: Did Ritter have to die?

Lawyers for the plaintiffs fault the care Ritter, 54, received from two doctors -- one who interpreted the results of a body scan he had in 2001, the other who treated him the night he died.

Defense attorneys say their clients did nothing wrong and that Ritter would have died no matter what doctors did.

The trial will feature high-stakes legal questions, celebrity cameos and dueling medical opinions by researchers who have written books on the arterial condition that killed Ritter.

Besides the medical issues, the proceeding probably will delve into sensitive areas for Hollywood bosses: how much successful television stars are worth and how that question is settled in contract negotiations.

It also will highlight how differently malpractice lawsuits play out when the alleged victim is wealthy. Ritter, best known for his starring role as Jack Tripper on "Three's Company," was an actor with tremendous earning potential, the plaintiffs' lawyers say. Because of his subsequent success on the series "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," his family is asking for more than $67 million in damages -- a stratospheric sum compared with most such claims.

The family already has received more than $14 million in settlements, according to court records, including $9.4 million from Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where he died.

No one disputes that doctors at St. Joseph treated Ritter as if he were having a heart attack. Both sides agree that his true condition -- an aortic dissection, which is a tear in the largest blood vessel in the body -- was not identified until right before his death.

Lawyers for the two remaining defendants, radiologist Matthew Lotysch and cardiologist Joseph Lee, say Ritter was doomed by his own biology.

"I really, really believe that for whatever reason, John Ritter's time was up," said Stephen C. Fraser, who represents Lotysch.

Yasbeck, Ritter's second wife, who married him in 1999, said the doctors missed signs of her husband's condition until it was too late to save him.

The trial is about more than money, she said. As is typical, none of the hospitals, doctors or other entities that have settled with the family have admitted guilt or said they were sorry. Yasbeck said she wants a public accounting of what happened.

"You can't treat my kid's dad for something and kill him in the process," she said.

"I think the money will show how angry the jury will be about what happened to John and what could happen to them."

Heath Ledger - UPDATE

NEW YORK -- An autopsy Wednesday morning on actor Heath Ledger was inconclusive, and a cause-of-death determination will take 10 to 14 days, a medical examiner's spokeswoman said.

Heath Ledger was unresponsive when a housekeeper found him in a Manhattan apartment Tuesday.

The Academy Award-nominated actor was found dead Tuesday of a possible drug overdose in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the New York Police Department said. He was 28.
Ledger's former girlfriend, actress Michelle Williams, who was shooting a movie in Sweden, was informed of his death late Tuesday night, a movie production company spokesman said.
Williams left early Wednesday morning with 2-year-old daughter Matilda Rose, the spokesman said. Ledger was the child's father.
Ledger, Oscar-nominated for his role in "Brokeback Mountain," was found by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse, said police spokesman Paul Browne.
"Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed," he told CNN. "This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet," Browne said.
Browne later told reporters some prescription medications were found in the room, including sleeping pills. He said the pills were not "scattered around," as had been reported.
No note was found and there was no indication of foul play, Browne said. Ledger was found about 3 p.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel about 3:30 p.m.
Ledger's family on Wednesday called his death "very tragic, untimely and accidental.

Beyonce might perform at the GRAMMYs

Beyonce's managment has reportedly confirmed that the singer will attend and perform at the Grammys despite possible picket lines by Writer's Guild of America (WGA) writers on strike. The news comes as a boost to the annual ceremony, which is in danger of being cancelled or reduced to a televised press conference like this year's Golden Globes.

Benazir Bhutto: ''Bin Laden Murdered''????

For some strange reason, the response one might expect from a Western news anchorman giving this interview -- something like: "Hold up, hold up, hold up... WHAT?! Murdered WHO?!" -- was conspicuously absent.

Even stranger still, the fact that on the BBC version of this interview, available on their website (view here), the only part of the interview that is edited out is the approx. 20 seconds where Bhutto makes the mention of Osama bin Laden having been murdered by a man named Omar Sheikh.

Heath Ledger found dead in NYC at age 28

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let him know the masseuse had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

A large crowd of paparazzi and gawkers began gathering Tuesday evening outside the building on an upscale block in SoHo, where several police officers guarded the door.

The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," where he met Michelle Williams in 2005. The two had lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year.

He most recently appeared in "I'm Not There," in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan ƒƒ‚‚ as did Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.

Ledger was to appear as the Joker this year in "The Dark Night," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." He's had starring roles in "A Knight's Tale" and "The Patriot," and played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball."

Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.

After several independent films and a starring role in the short-lived Fox TV series "Roar," Ledger moved to Los Angeles and costarred in "10 Things I Hate About You," a teen comedy reworking of "The Taming of the Shrew."

Offers for other teen flicks came his way, but Ledger turned them down, preferring to remain idle than sign on for projects he didn't like.

"It wasn't a hard decision for me," Ledger told the Associated Press in 2001. "It was hard for everyone else around me to understand. Agents were like, 'You're crazy,' my parents were like, 'Come on, you have to eat.'"

Kate Moss to sue the News Of The World over orgy claims

Supermodel Kate Moss has ordered her lawyers to sue British Sunday tabloid the News of The World over allegations that she had a cocaine fueled orgy with 3 pals during a bash for her 34th birthday last Wednesday.

The News of The World claimed that Kate got “hot and sweaty” with two female models and a male guest - while a crowd of onlookers “snorted cocaine and ogled the eye-popping performance.”

They even quoted a source as saying: “Kate was loving the attention from the girls, the bloke—and the crowd. It was standing room only.

“They were all over each other but it was her night.”

“Kate kept disappearing into the toilets with her friends for giggles and girly chats. She was full of energy that night.”

“Security was watertight,” the source allegedly claimed to the newspaper. “Nobody made it through the suite doors who wasn’t already on a pre-approved list. Once you were inside it was obvious why.

“People were doing cocaine all over the place. They were chopping out line after line on the expensive furniture and snorting it up. The lights were low and there were scented candles all over the place.

“When Kate arrived, she reached for a Diamond Chaser—a cocktail of vintage champagne and cognac—and made her way to the master bedroom.”

A rep for Kate’s modeling agency Storm has slammed the report - branding it ‘false and defamatory’.

P Diddy wants to change his name again..

Rap bad boy P Diddy is changing his nickname for the sixth time - and now he wants to be known as Sean John.

The 38-year-old hip-hop mogul, whose real name is Sean John Combs, will have the same title as his fragrance.

The New Yorker, who has also gone by the aliases Puff, Puffy, Puff Daddy, and Diddy, said: “I have always evolved and taken a different name each time.

“It’s nothing unusual where I come from.

“Right now I want to be Sean John because that’s where I am.”

In 2005, Combs - who was then known as ‘Puff Daddy’,  appeared on the Today Show and announced that he was altering his stage name yet again, dropping the “P.” and referring to himself simply as “Diddy,” saying that “the P was getting between me and my fans.”

However, by changing his name to simply ‘Diddy’ - he upset Richard “Diddy” Dearlove, a London based DJ, who threatened to sue Combs, and an out of court settlement of $220,000 was agreed. As a result, Puff Daddy was unable to use the name Diddy in the UK.

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach friend of The Shop congrats

Not everybody is happy that Oprah Winfrey has given Rabbi Shmuley Boteach his own show on her XM radio channel, Oprah and Friends, starting Jan. 28. They question how Oprah, Barack Obama's most famous backer, could give the coveted slot to Rabbi Shmuley, aRudolph Giuliani booster.

The "Kosher Sex" author held a fund-raiser for Giuliani's presidential bid at his mansion in Englewood, N.J., last year.

"I don't understand why someone like Oprah, who ostensibly supports the causes of women and people of color, would hire a host who raised money for Giuliani," said Randy Credico, the comedian-turned-activist who's director of the William Moses Kunstler Fund for Racial Justice and who was the subject of the Jack Black-produced documentary "60 Spins Around the Sun."

"Giuliani has a history of treating women like dirt, including the mother of his children. And he's never distanced himself from racist supporters like radio hostBob Grant, who called Martin Luther King a scumbag ...

"Oprah has a lot of explaining to do."

A spokeswoman at Oprah's Harpo Productions told us, "It's a nonissue. The political affiliations of our hosts are their personal choice."

Said Rabbi Shmuley: "I agreed to host a fund-raiser for Rudy Giuliani based on his staunch support for the state of Israel, and based on my suggestion and subsequent conversations with his senior staff concerning tax-deductible marital counseling becoming an essential platform of his campaign. ... My commitment is ... to the security of the only democracy within the Middle East, America's staunch ally, Israel, and the viability and unity of the American people through strong American families.

"I will gladly agree to host Barack ObamaHillary Clinton, or any other candidate who embraces those important values."

It's not known whether Oprah will give Rabbi Shmuley, who has eight kids and who hosted the TV show "Shalom in the Home," a program on her new cable TV network.

Missy is back!

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Rap star Missy Elliott has popped up here and there in the past few years (namely, in a Doritos ad campaign), but there hasn't been much in the way of new music from her since 2005's "The Cookbook."

Now the wait is over, in the form of the new songs "Ching-a-Ling" and "Shake Your Pom Pom," which will appear on Atlantic's "Step Up 2 the Streets" soundtrack (February 5) and Elliott's new album (likely due in May).

At No. 57, "Ching-a-Ling" is currently the top debut on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Elliott is hoping to reunite with producer Timbaland, who has been behind some of her biggest hits but wasn't much of a factor on "The Cookbook."

Not 50

Rap bad boy 50 Cent has denied reports that he is to help Micheal Jackson revive his fledging career.

Rumors have ben flying that the ‘In Da Club’ star would help produce some of Wacko Jacko’s new album - and possibly collaborate with him on one of the tracks.

But 50, real name, Curtis James Jackson III, says there’s nothing in it and reckons Jackson doesn’t need even his help.

He said: “It’s not true. Anyway, what can you possibly teach Michael Jackson about music – nothing.”

50 headlined at Harry O’s on Saturday night at the Sundance Film Festival and refused to get off stage.

Event organizers told him his time was up, but the rapper turned entrepreneur carried on much to the delight of Paris Hilton and her rich pals who were situated in the front row.
